Salvia leucantha midnight ~ Mexican Sage

For the last several years Salvia leucantha midnight has been the most popular of the Mexican Sages in my neck of the woods. 10 years ago it was only the species that was available. I like to use whatever all of the other guys are not, call me what you will. Both the species and the cultivar grow to the same dimensions and with the same conditions. Both are pretty, both are hardy. Salvia leucantha midnight is a great nectar source for the Mournful Duskywing and the California Dogface Butterfly and is a nice addition to the Butterfly Garden as well as the hummingbird garden.
