Mimulus Ruby Silver is
noted for its shiny foliage, long blooming period, and ruby red
flowers. Mimulus Ruby Silver can be found blooming as early as mid
March and into early Summer. Mimulus Ruby Silver can grow in full
sun near the coast, but prefers some shade, and requires shade during the
heat of the day for inland gardens. Mimulus Ruby Silver required
good drainage and does best with fairly dry conditions once
established. The Ruby Silver Monkey Flower is a hybrid between two
California species, Mimulus clevelandii X Mimulus longiflorus.
Mimulus Ruby Silver is Winter hardy into the low 20's. Mimulus Ruby
Silver is a great addition to the Butterfly
Garden and the Hummingbird
Garden. Mimulus is a larval host plant for the Checkerspot
and Common Buckeye Butterflies.
