Abutilon hybridum Red * Giant Red Chinese Lantern

The red Chinese lantern has pendulous red flowers. It is a little more tender than the other Chinese Lantern varieties but puts on loads of flowers if it is grown in a protected location. The red Abutilon scorched in full sun unless it is grown very near the coast. They like a moderate amount of water but will eke out an existence on much less. Hummingbirds feed from the Chinese Lantern flowers by reaching in between the sepals and petals to seek out the nectaries.
