Hyptis emoryi is a
medium to large shrub growing 6 to 10 feet tall, often a bit wider than
tall. The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden introduced this silver
foliaged variety. Hyptis emoryi blooms Winter into Spring and may still be
blooming a bit as Summer starts. The Desert Lavender is drought
tolerant but seems to appreciate infrequent summer water in drier
climates. Hyptis emoryi is a great nectar source for bees,
hummingbirds and a number of butterflies. Hyptis emoryi is Winter hardy into the low 20's or high
teens but will likely be damaged in the high 20's
