Hypoestes aristata, the Ribbon Bush grows to 4 - 5 feet tall and wide. The plants stay a lush green throughout the year. With a late Fall into Winter display of violet flowers they attract the resident hummingbirds quite well in our gardens. Hypoestes aristata grows in full sun to partial shade. Ribbon Bush will fare quite well in a drought tolerant garden as do many other South African plants. Hypoestes aristata is frost tolerant of temperatures that drop into the low to mid 20's.
