Tomato Varieties
I'm a sucker for weird
tomatoes. If its a funky color, a funky shape, or the tag says
"heirloom" I have to try it.

Cherokee Purple Tomatoes: I found
these at the Ferry Building Farmers' Market in San
Francisco. They've got deep purple, almost black splotches
that spread to the inside of the fruit as well. It has
reputation of being one of the rare tomatoes with both
exceptional color and flavor. I chopped them with onions,
cilantro, and a poblano pepper for a quick salsa to top some
tacos. |
