Leucadendron discolor ~ Flame Tips

Leucadendron discolor has one of the more striking flower color combinations.  The flowers last very well when cut.  Leucadendron discolor grows to 5-6 feet tall and wide.  Leucadendron can be covered in striking red blossoms and creamy yellow bracts from Winter and into Spring.  Flame Tips plants do not tolerate phosphate fertilizers and prefer well drained soil.  Due to the salinity of our Southern California water we amend around the plants with soil sulfur each year.  Winter temperatures of 20 degrees left the plants still blooming
