Clerodendrum thomsoniae * Bleeding Heart Vine

Clerodendrum thomsoniae is a tropical vine from West Africa.  It will be damaged when temperatures drop into twenties and is best kept out of freezing conditions.  Clerodendrum thomsoniae prefers good soil and drainage and seems to do its best with morning light or light shade.  Clerodendrum thomsoniae can withstand pretty dry growing conditions.  It also goes under the common names of Bleeding Glory Bower, Tropical Bleeding Heart, Bag Flower, and Glory Tree.  These white calyx's and scarlet flowers would make even the most drab tree glorious.  Clerodendrum thomsoniae will bloom sporadically Spring through Fall with the heaviest concentration of bloom in the Summer.
