Canna Lily Durban ~ Durban Canna Lily

Canna Durban is spectacular with just its foliage.  The bright red finely striped variegation fades as it ages providing great contrast with the new leaves and the old.  The bright orange flowers are produced from late Spring through hard frost.  Canna Durban prefers regular irrigation and well drained soil with full sun.  But this is a Canna and these plants are far sturdier than they might look.  They will take a summer break if there isn't enough water or a winter break if it gets too cold.  Canna Durban will bloom in a shady entrance, albeit with much less vigor than in full sun but the foliage is still extravagant.  Canna Durban is frost tolerant down to 0 with a thick layer of mulch over the root zone.
