Cook's Corner ~ Thyme

Thyme

Welcome to Cook’s Corner at California Gardens!

Thyme

Thyme is a very easy herb to cook with as its mild flavors do not overpower other ingredients and tend to blend well.  It is often used in Italian cooking as it works well with tomatoes.  The stems of the thyme plant are very woody and unappetizing so some care should be taken to ensure they don't end up in your finished dish.  You can remove the leaves from the stems using your fingers or the back of a knife before you begin cooking.  In some recipes, such as sauces, it is easier to add a whole sprig to the pot and remove it before serving.
