Spiraea cantoniensis * Bridal Wreath Spiraea, Reeves Spiraea
Spiraea cantoniensis is a medium to large shrub growing to 6-8 feet tall and wider than tall. Spiraea cantoniensis looks best when it can assume its natural arching shape. Spiraea cantoniensis blooms with white flowers in the Spring. Spiraea cantoniensis is drought tolerant once established and is often a survivor in gardens left untended. Spiraea cantoniensis prefers regular moisture and a full sunny position in the garden, but will get by with far less than ideal conditions. Spiraea cantoniensis is native to China. Spiraea cantoniensis will survive winters far colder than we are likely to see. It rarely gets cold enough to make Spiraea cantoniensis go deciduous as it might in colder parts of the US and Canada. Spiraea cantoniensis is not a deer favorite, though if hungry enough they will sample almost anything. Spiraea cantoniensis is a great addition to the Butterfly garden attracting Skippers and Admirals alike to the nectar of their flowers.
