Prunus campanulata - Taiwan Flowering Cherry
Prunus campanulata is an appropriate sized tree for many suburban yards. The cherries never get large enough to make a mess. The rich pink flowers of Prunus campanulata put on a fantastic show in February into March. The Taiwan Flowering Cherry gets to 20 feet tall and wide. And Prunus campanulata will flower consistently even near the coast. Finding flowering fruit trees that will flower in spite of a low chill environment is often difficult for cherries of any sort. I have had a number of Prunus campanulata trees succumb to the shot hole borer beetle lately, keep your eyes open for this pest if you have a Taiwan Flowering Cherry
