Thunbergia battiscombei

Thunbergia battiscombei dies to the ground unless kept in a greenhouse or you happen to live in near hothouse conditions.  However Thunbergia battiscombei will return reliably from the roots even with winter temperatures into the low 20's.  And as I mention often, I do like a pleasant surprise.  I mark the seasons by the comings and goings of plants like this one.  It blooms with these intensely purple flowers for much of the  summer.   If it is watered it will continue to produce through to frost.  If not Thunbergia battiscombei will hibernate until the next spring.
