Just Joey Rose * Introduced in 1972

It is unfortunate when a flower of such grandeur comes on a plant with no spine.  There are a few thorns in life.  These huge pastel apricot blooms are hard to match.  Just Joey puts out spindly branches that can barely hold those beautiful blossoms up.  Mine has yet to put out a real cane.  The kind that are about 3/4" to 1" thick and pronounce that they are 'bad' and here to stay.  I like that in a rose, especially when there are 4 or 5 of those.  When that happens it puts me into a state of rosarian bliss.  I think I will be waiting for a long time for that to happen with this one.  But I will keep a small space in my garden for Just Joey because those first blooms of the season are so magnificent.
