Tecoma stans grows as a
large shrub or can be pruned up as a small tree, growing up to 25 feet in
near frost free conditions. The Yellow Elder works well as a street
tree. Tecoma stans requires little supplemental water once
established and is quite tolerant of high heat. The Yellow Trumpet
Bush does well in full sun but will still bloom in the shade of other
trees. Tecoma stans is a great addition to the hummingbird
garden. Tecoma stans is Winter hardy at least into the high teens,
though the foliage and branch tips are damaged in the mid 20's.
