Tabebuia impetiginosa
is an excellent choice for inland valley locations. The pink-purple
blossoms are produced extravagantly in the latter part of Winter and Early
Spring. Later in the season Tabebuia impetiginos is a fine small
shade tree eventually reaching 25 feet. The Purple Trumpet Tree is a
good street tree and can tolerate being planted in a lawn. It may
take several years for Tabebuia impetiginosa to start blooming, I have
seen some very reluctant trees in coastal communities. Tabebuia
impetiginosa is hardy into the high teens.
