Platystemon californicum ~ Cream Cups

Platystemon californicum is regularly found along the Southern California trails, particularly in Sunny but partially protected locations.  The Cream Cups bloom for much of the Spring, often starting in March and continuing into May.  Platystemon californicum varies from all white petals to having petals with significant yellow markings.  The Cream Cups are a good choice for wildflower seed mixes and often perform quite well.  I have seen them growing in a variety of soil types, but most often in heavy soils on an eastern exposure or with some larger shrubs nearby to provide a little afternoon shade.
