Pavonia missionum is a
small loose shrub. Mine have been quite successful in full
sun. I give them a spartan diet of water, ample organic material and
watch them bloom in spectacular fashion. This small flowered
hibiscus relative can survive winters that dip into the high teens for
brief periods. I have grown them in well drained soils and heavy
soils. They seem to prefer the heavier soils. Pavonia
missionum is a nectar source for the Painted
Lady Butterfly and a great addition to the butterfly
garden
