Osteospermum Bright Lights * Red Freeway Daisy

Osteospermum Bright Lights is a red version of the Freeway Daisy. The Red Freeway Daisy dependably produces a wealth of early Spring and late Fall flowers in variety of red tones. Osteospermum fruticosum often blooms continuously through the Winter months in gardens that are frost free. Osteospermum fruticosum lives for a season or two and dependably produces enough seed to generate new plants to fill in for abused sections of the garden though varieties like Osteospermum Bright Lights do not always breed true and may come back as a mix of colors with subsequent generations. Osteospermum Bright Lights is quite drought tolerant. Osteospermum Bright Lights is a great plant for attracting the Painted Lady, Great Purple Hairstreak, Gray Hairstreak, White Checkered Skipper, Northern White Skipper, California Common Ringlet, Mormon Metalmark, and the Mournful Duskywing Butterflies. The Red Freeway Daisy will rot if over-watered. Plants will often recover from temperatures that dip into the low teens but the tops will die off. Osteospermum Bright Lights is garden hardy where temperatures don't go below the high 20°s F.
