Lilium humboldtii - Humboldt's Lily

Lilium humboldtii is native to shady woodland seeps and moist stream margins. Humboldt's Lily grows up to 6 feet tall. Lilium humboldtii blooms from Spring into Summer. The 4" orange speckled flowers of Lilium humboldtii are a deer delicacy, when deer are present mostly stalks with no flowers are all that is left. The flowers of the Humbolt's Lily are a brilliant orange with darker markings. Lilium humboldtii grows from near sea level to 6000 feet elevation. It is often thought that California plants are drought tolerant. While there are plenty that are, Lilium humboldtii comes from a consistantly moist environment.
