Halimium calycinum * Yellow Rockrose

Halimium calycinum, the Yellow Rockrose is a great shrub for the sunny drought tolerant garden. Halimium calycinum is a mid-sized relative of the Rockroses and Sunroses, and is called by the common name of Sunrose by some. Halimium calycinum is native to Turkey and North Africa. Halimium calycinum grows to 3 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. Halimium calycinum blooms from late Winter through to early Summer. Halimium calycinum prefers to grow in a sunny part of the garden. Halimium calycinum is tolerant of heavy soils if the garden is kept dry in the Summer. Halimium calycinum blooms with 2" buttercup yellow flowers that have a purple spot at the base of each petal. Halimiocistus calycinum is Winter hardy to 10° F.
