Coreopsis auriculata 'nana' * Mouse Ear Tickseed

This compact Coreopis auriculata 'nana' has foliage that grows to 3" tall and flowers that rise about 3" above that.   The plant will gradually form a clump a foot or more in diameter.   This Coreopsis  puts on a great early spring bloom and then has scattered blooms during the summer and a second flush of flowers in the later portion of the Fall.  It will  flower into the summer if the flowers are removed.  If the flowers are left they are not nearly the distraction that they are on the larger Coreopsis species.   I like the dark green foliage and the rich yellow flowers.  It blooms before Coreopsis 'sunray' gets going.  I use it for the early source of yellow in my garden.
