Collinsia heterophylla is
well named. The flowers of Chinese Houses are stacked like a pagoda.
Collinsia heterophylla will be found in massive groups on a hillside and virtually be the whole show from May through the first of June.
Collinsia heterophylla will generally grow on north facing
slopes or in shaded areas of east or west exposures. Chinese Houses will grow in disturbed soils or in a mixture of herbs. I have often found
Collinsia heterophylla under oaks where the tree canopy is high.
Collinsia heterophylla eeds can often be found in wildflower
mixes.
Collinsia heterophylla attracts the Checkerspot Butterfly species and is a
great addition to the wildflower section in your butterfly
garden.
