Ceanothus Concha ~ California Lilac

Ceanothus Concha is a large fast growing shrub.  This California Lilac hybrid is one of the oldest.  Ceanothus Concha grows 6-8 feet tall and is typically a little wider than tall.  The fragrant dark blue flowers are pruduced in the late Winter and early Spring.  Ceanothus Concha is quite drought tolerant once established.  Long term survival odds are improved by limiting Summer water and planting in an area with good drainage.  Ceanothus can live to 25 years in exceptional conditions but typically live 10 years or so.  Ceanothus Concha will grow best in full sun but will tolerate some light shade.   Deer are not generally attracted to Ceanothus, but if hungry enough they will eat just about anything organic.  Ceanothus Concha is hardy to the low teens and likely below.
