Capparis spinosa * Caper

Capparis spinosa is strikingly beautiful in the garden. The Caper that you eat comes from pickling the unopened flower. Capparis spinosa grows to 2-3 feet tall and wide. The fragrant White Flowers bloom Spring through Fall. Capparis spinosa does best in full sun with a moderate amount if irrigation but will get by on far worse. The biggest limit is chill, Capparis spinosa will not put up with a hard frost. Capparis spinosa is often cut nearly to the ground each Winter and treated like a perennial.
