Banksia blechnifolia * Groundcover Banksia

I fell in love with Banksia blechnifolia because of the fernlike leaves and surprise flowers. The late Winter or Early Spring most often red flowers but sometimes salmon flowers were a bonus for me. The woody stems of Banksia blechnifolia stays low to the ground, the branches never really leave it. It prefers well drained soil and can live in sun or light shade. It has survived into the low 20's for me. There is a fern genus Blechnum. The species name describes the foliage but Banksia blechnifolia is a lot hardier than a fern.
