The Anna's Hummingbird
is the largest and most common Hummingbird on the West coast. The
Anna's Hummingbird is a common visitor to feeders (hummingbird
feeder recipe). We have a long list of plants that the Anna's
Hummingbird will feed upon (see our Hummingbird
Garden list). Some of these plants become the center point for a
territorial battle between hummingbirds as they vie for feeding
rights. The male Anna's Hummingbird has a spectacular ruby
throat. The red markings extend through the forehead. The
first year and female Anna's Hummingbirds are grey and green and pretty
hard to distinguish. Attract
hummingbirds to your garden.
