Anisodontea x hypomandarum ~ Cape Mallow

Anisodontea hypomandarum is a free flowering shrub from the Hibiscus family. The Cape Mallow is rarely seen without a pink flower on it. Anisodontea hypomandarum grows 4-6 feet tall and wide. While it can take regular moist garden conditions the Cape Mallow does quite well with infrequent summer water. Except in the best drained of sandy soils where plants may require a little more water. Plant Anisodontea hypomandarum in the full sun, it gets a little straggly in the shade. Anisodontea hypomandarum will attract the Painted Lady Butterfly, White Checkered Skipper, and the Northern White Skipper butterfly to your garden. Plants are Winter hardy into the high teens.
