Anemone Whirlwind ~ Double White Japanese Anemone, Thimbleweed, Windflower
The Anemone Whirlwind is one of the tamer of the Japanese anemones. In the early Fall little can
beat this perennial for producing loads of flowers. Anemone whirlwind grows 18" to 2 feet tall
and spreads up to a foot a year. This is one plant that can usually grow faster than gophers
will eat. Not that any plant is really up to holding off a hungry hoard. Anemone Whirlwind does
well in Full sun or light shade near the coast and can take a little more shade inland.
