Salvia melissodora ~ Grape Scented Sage

Salvia melissodora is native to the mountains of Mexico at elevations of 4,000-8,000 feet.  It has been used by the local people for herbal remedies.  The Grape Scented Sage is a free flowering shrub that is fragrant and attracts hummingbirds and insects.  Melissa means bee attracting.   The grape scented sage is hardy to 20 degrees.  Salvia melissodora is a great addition to the dry shade garden, the hummingbird garden and the butterfly garden.
