Salvia madrensis - Forsythia Sage

Salvia madrensis is a sage large late blooming sage. The Forsythia Sage flowers are a spectacular yellow as they glow out from a shaded section of the garden. Forsythia sage is native to the mountains of Mexico at an elevation ranging between 4,000-5,000 feet in warm wet regions. It can take temperatures into the mid 20°s F and may come back from worse setbacks. Salvia madrensis can get to 7-8 feet tall and wide. The Forsythia Sage blooms in the fall. Salvia madrensis has performed best in our gardens in moist shaded locations with well amended soils. Salvia madrensis is a great addition to the Butterfly Garden as well as the Hummingbird Garden.
