Hero
Rose * Introduced in 1982 |
| The Hero Rose is an upright rose,
growing
to 5 feet tall or more and not nearly that wide. The large semi-double pink flowers
of Hero open wide enough to
show the stamens. There is a part of me that feels great pleasure in seeing that a
flower is still that with all of its anatomy on display. When a flower gets too
fluffed and ornate something of the purity of the flower sometimes seems lost. This
a large semi-climbing rose, at least that is how I prune it. I have noticed no
disease problems.
Hero was released by David Austin in 1982. Hero comes from a cross between 'The
Prioress' and a seedling.
