Cottage Rose * Introduced in 1991

Cottage Rose has a sweet but slightly medicinal scent.   It has long thin thorny canes.  The flowers are a dense cluster of pink petals up to 4" across.  My Cottage Rose is growing in fairly dense shade and still blooming and growing strongly.   Cottage Rose is 6 feet tall and a little spindly.  More sun would be good for it but it performs admirably well with the conditions that we have given it.  Probably in part to its difficult location it also seems prone to mildew, but grows and blooms right through any problems.  By summer the Cottage rose is disease free and looking great even with our no spray program.

The parents of Cottage Rose include Wife of Bath and Mary Rose.
