This fountain is a focal point for a convalescent hospital healing garden.  The contrast of the ruffled and smooth bricks, and the interplay of shadow and water bring interest to the fountain.  The spritzer on the top ruffles the water just enough that the spills gurgle and the sound is modulated.  This variability in the volume helps keep the water sound  interesting so it does not just become white noise.  The patients and guests love to sit on the edge of the fountain.  This healing garden has been a success.  The patients that are ambulatory often sit around the fountain.  Those that are not are often brought out by their caregivers and families.
